Inclusion and Accessibility in the PAUSD Special Education District Advisory Committee

Please send your own version of this email to our school board members to encourage more transparency in the PAUSD Special Education District Advisory Committee (SEDAC Board reps – Joshua Salcman and Rowena Chiu) (board@pausd.org)… and attend if you can.

Mr. Salcman, Ms. Chiiu

Thank you for volunteering to be the board representatives to the board SEDAC.

I hope that the web site will be updated to reflect the full membership of the committee with contact information for all members and a mail list to reach the entire committee. A key part of this committee particularly is that the board wanted to improve public access and visibility and impact on special education… part of that should be to know who the representatives are and how to contact them.

I also hope that you will add Zoom or other online support for attending these meetings remotely (as well as providing recordings afterwards).

This is already done for at least some of the other board committee meetings.

As you may not know, parents of disabled children have a lot of extra challenges related to childcare and flexibility to go to meetings like this.

When our democratic institutions are under threat, we should move to expand opportunities for civic participation.

Our special education committee should be a model for accessibility.

Sincerely,

(YOUR NAME)
