a minority group that touches everyone

Our local school district here in Palo Alto California, has just over 1000 students with IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) – a bit lower than average for California and nationally, around 700 with 504 plans (higher than the national average of 2 to 4 percent).

Numerous students have ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety, and other disabilities that don’t qualify for special education services.

That is around 2000 students who have 4000 parents, plus siblings, other family members, and friends…

Enough to make a difference in almost any local election

This is a substantial body of voters and people who care passionately about how our community treats and serves their children and the disabled adults they will become

Disability touches everyone and it is the only minority group that anyone can, and likely will at some point during their life, be a member of by birth, age, accident, or illness.

20 percent of all people have some form of disability.
