No one explains to parents how to “work” their special education child’s IEP (Individualized Education Program) to get better outcomes. The “Better IEP Meetings Playbook” is my step-by-step strategy to help you to have more success with one of the most intimidating parts of the Individualized Education Program experience – the dreaded IEP meeting.

You can download it here (or preview the playbook online here):

Better IEP Meetings

Don’t worry, it is free.

I hate meetings… and IEP meetings are some of the worst.

The stakes are high – your disabled child’s education. Their FUTURE! You are a “member of the IEP team” and “your child’s best advocate”… and you are totally lost.

You need a plan.

There is almost nothing worse than a meeting without a plan.

This playbook is a part of my “IEP Navigator” framework. I wrote it first, because, it is specific and practical and you should be able to use it no matter how you think about your child’s IEP… and I had to write something first.

The playbook is super detailed (16 pages and counting) and includes multiple email templates, strategy worksheets to help you build your plan, and plenty of commentary.

For parents who want to take control

I believe that every parent of a disabled child should be able to effectively represent themselves and their child through the special education process. Advocates and lawyers have their place, but there is no substitute for you leading the way.

If you don’t know what you want for your child – how can you build a program to achieve it?

If you want to hire a lawyer or advocate, I think this will help you make better decisions – and, hopefully, make their job easier, because you’ve set them up for success.

  • Save you Time – a shortcut that you can use to build your own IEP meeting plan
  • Save you Money – help you to take control of your child’s education before you need to hire a lawyer or advocate (or maybe you won’t need one at all)
  • Better Education for your child – MOST IMPORTANTLY, giving you tools to help ensure that your child has the best education that you can get them through your local school system.

I will be steadily working to improve this resource and share updates with you as they come out – your suggestions are very welcome.

I couldn’t have created this without the dozens and dozens? hundreds? of conversations I’ve had with other special education parents (I’ve been hosting a weekly coffee for special education parents for several years and doing lots and lots of talking with other parents evn before that).

This is my thank you to them.
