3B. Math Report

It is very disheartening to see in the small print that not all PAUSD high school students are included in this report and that there isn’t any information on what sort of grades students are getting. This should be a complete report that includes and reports honestly on all students. Parts of our education track are clearly not discussed here, nor are the outcomes for the many students who did not succeed in our 8th grade acceleration program. When are we going to look at the whole math program and how we are performing for the students who probably need our help and attention most? Not just students with disabilities, but students who aren’t heading to college.

5. Consent Calendar

C and D – 2 special education teacher resignations, 2 special education aide resignations… basically the only turnover of classroom staff. When are we going to look at our turnover data for our special education staff?

I – Congratulations on the Career Technical Education grant… I look forward to hearing more about the scope and effectiveness of these programs at an upcoming board meeting.

J – I hope that we will have more detailed reporting on outcomes from College Now as well as CTE outcomes for Middle College.

K – We need to move to a standard for accessible instructional materials so that our special education teachers do not spend their time making materials accessible on a case-by-case basis. Much better that they spend time teaching. By definition, inaccessible materials reduce the accessibility and opportunities for inclusion for all students with disabilities and increase the cost of providing services. If all instructional materials are not accessible “out of the box” for all students, then they should not be considered sufficient.

M. It is great that PAUSD supports the education program for the patients and families at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, however, the board and public deserve more meaningful reporting on the effectiveness and outcomes of this program.

N. My daughter experienced the Second Step program and has nothing good to say about it or about the presentation of the material by PAUSD teachers. It should of concern that students have not been in the evaluation process and it appears the problem is not limited to the curriculum itself.
