100 Coffees – Thank you!
Wednesday, 24 September 2025 will be the “official” 100th special education and disability coffee that I’ve hosted. Almost all of them have been held at Ada’s Cafe here in Palo Alto.
I’m not sure how many people have stopped by… probably well more than 100 (I’ve totally failed to get people to sign up… now I don’t even bother… “Bad Email Newsletter Behavior!” – by the way – sign up to get articles that are almost never like this one.).
It is mostly Moms, though a good number of Dads, who have disabled kids.
Mostly local to Palo Alto and attending Palo Alto Unified School District schools.
… though some have come from other Bay Area communities.
… some who are moving or thinking about moving to Palo Alto.
… some just to talk.
… one of my favorite guests was Rob who stopped by from Washington State who’ve I’ve know online since COVID times! TOTAL SURPRISE!
… a lot who are having some sort of challenge with their child’s education (sometimes services) or other stuff… we’ll talk about anything :).
… there have even been some days (mostly in Winter) where no one has shown up and I get to hoe out my email.
We’ve had a good number of guests. School board candidates and members. Other area candidates. School Union officials. School district officials. (email me to suggest other guests!)
The guests have all been gracious and stayed to listen.
I’ve learned so much from everyone.
Thank you.
Steve
Where next?
Probably more of the same. Maybe I’ll try to get the word out more (I’d like to see new faces, stop by! Invite others!). I’ve potentially got almost 10(!) years left in the school district.
Suggestions welcome.
